Small introduction/presentation

My name is Marietta Kiesling. I’m an entrepreneur and the founder of vonmuto.living, an interior concept studio based in Vienna, Austria. I also create and curate content for my Instagram platform @vonmuto.living. While my roots are in Austria, my inspirations are deeply emotional and shaped by international influences. My background is originally in psychotherapy, but when I renovated my own practice, I discovered my true passion for renovation and interior design. I love focusing on creating living spaces that tell personal, soulful stories. I currently live and work in Vienna, where vonmuto.living was born — a studio guided by intuition, natural materials, texture, and elegance.

QUESTIONS

Tell us about your place of residence, city or region, activity and if or what you like about your hometown?

I live in Vienna – a beautiful and incredibly livable city. What I love most is the charm of its historic buildings, the contrast between urban life and nearby countryside, and the calm rhythm of everyday living. Vienna is elegant, thoughtful, and quietly inspiring — which makes it the perfect backdrop for a design practice that values depth, quality, and emotion over trends.

Your must-see addresses near you?

• MAK – Museum of Applied Arts
: A constant source of inspiration.

• The 1st district: Full of stunning buildings, magical streets, and hidden corners with fascinating stories.

• Vienna’s traditional Heurigen: These rustic wine taverns scattered across the city are a culture of their own — filled with charm, simplicity, and surrounded by beautiful nature.

• Schönbrunn Palace & Gardens: A timeless escape into history and beauty.

• Die Glasfabrik: A vintage store for interior design, full of hidden treasures.

Your favorite places on Earth? Copenhagen, Denmark — for its clarity in design, way of life, and quiet sophistication.

Do you think it is important to travel and why? Absolutely. Travel is so much more than physical movement — it’s a shift in perspective. When I travel, I learn not only about aesthetics and design, but also about functionality and purpose. That combination is essential in my work. I don’t just want to create beautiful spaces — I want to create spaces that are meaningful and truly functional in everyday life.

What do you think about the future of travel and what we (citizens) need to consider?

The future of travel must be more conscious. It’s not about ticking boxes or “seeing more” — it’s about feeling more. Travel with intention. Respect the places and people you encounter. Support local businesses, protect the environment, and be aware of the cultural footprint you leave behind.

What would you advise? Be present. Walk. Taste. Listen more than you speak. Visit markets. Tune in to what truly feels good to you — not what Instagram recommends or what looks good online. Travel for your soul, not for the feed.

As a woman, how do you judge the future of our land or our societies? I believe women bring a natural sensitivity for connection, community, and sustainability — all of which are key values for the future. The more space we give women to speak, shape, and lead, the more balanced and humane our societies will become.

How do you think you can contribute to it? Women who stand out to you? Through design, I aim to create spaces that encourage reflection, inner calm, and balanced beauty. Spaces influence how we behave and interact — and if we design with care and soul, we shape lives with more presence and intention. I also focus a lot on the women around me. Nobody does everything perfectly — but I believe we can learn something from every gesture, idea, or decision. You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with. That’s why I regularly reflect on my circle, draw strength from it, and allow myself to grow through it.

What would be your travel dream? I dream of going to Japan — to discover its architecture, craftsmanship, and the quiet wisdom of wabi-sabi. I would love to experience it slowly, gently, and deeply. Another dream is to renovate an old house in the Mediterranean and live with the rhythm of nature for a while.
